Topic and Main Idea

Topic - The attack in Paris verses the attack in Kenya

Finding Out About Older Attacks For First Time - "The old article was the first time many people had herd about the Kenya attack."

Different Victims Spark Our Different Reactions - "Many people feel that we react to terrible events differently depending on whom the victims are. Some deaths seem to matter more to us then others."

Caring Ties To Out Feelings Of Closeness - "People are more likely to care when terrible things happen to people and places to which they feel close."

Americans Hold Paris Dear - " It is that closeness to Paris that made so many Americans express their sadness and shock on Facebook and Twitter. It was almost as if a friend had died."

Author's POV + Purpose

1. The author's point of view is that Americans doesn't care what happened in Kenya, they only care about what happened in Paris. One example is that the author says that "Yet back in April There was almost nothing about it on Facebook and Twitter. There was no outpouring of sadness and support, as there was for Paris." Also the author says that "Many people feel that we react to terrible events differently depending on whom the victims are.". Finally the authors says " People posted old photos of themselves in front of the Eiffel Tower. Others said they were praying for Paris.".
2. I agree with the author's point of view because it's true. Only if it affects us then we care. Also if everyone especially on social media is talking about it, then that when it's a huge deal.
3. The author's purpose is to persuade the reader that people only care about what affects them anything else. For example the author says that " Many people feel that we react to terrible events differently depending on whom the victims are. Some deaths seem to matter more to us then others.".

Author's POV

I think we should protect animals, we should care more for the environment. If we let more and more animals die, the whole balance of the earth would fall apart. We should think before we do because it might cause something bad to happen, especially in the environment.
- In the article "Endangered whale may be safer in an aquarium." the author's point of view is to let Loilta go to the ocean where she belongs. The author believes this because some orca activists say the the way Loilta's is cramped in a small tank is a form of mistreatment. Also people think "It is inhumane to force her to perform in shows.". Finally, he thinks that she should be released because there are fewer the 80 orcas in the southern oceans and they need to repopulate.
- In the article "Ending "Shamu" stunts isn't enough to protect whales, activists say" the author's point of view is to stop making orcas perform in shows and do tricks because people want more natural shows. He believes this because people want to see the way killer whales act naturally rather then them doing tricks. Also California costumers also want more natural shows and fewer tricks. Finally people think orcas tricks they do in the wild are better then stuff they perceive as tricks.

Exciting Moment

My book is Wings of Fire and the most exciting part is when the Sea palace is being attacked by an assassin. The queen found out the assassin was attacking because Tsunami, the main character, was attacked by the assassin. After they made a prediction that the person attacking the palace was assassin that always got away with killing the dragonet eggs. The queen, Tsunami, and the whole army started rushing towards the Sea Wing Royal Hatchery to check on the eggs. They all finally made it, but two out of three of the eggs were shattered and destroyed. The dragons that were inside the egg were now dead. But then, Tsunami volunteers to take the job of protecting the last remaining egg. I predict the Tsunami will encounter the assassin again and who will try to take the egg.

Sensory Language

In my book Wings of Fire there is many sensory language such as "An island loomed out in front of them, with immense coral reefs clustered all around it.  "This creates a mood inside my mind that the setting is a very sketchy and ominous . Also phrases such as "Orange branches twined around purple star-shaped clusters." reminds me of decorations that you find in a very happy party. Finally sentences like "Lacy fans the color of rust darted in and out of the holes." make the setting feel more alive, it makes me feel very relaxed. These sensory details make the book feel more alive, it feels like your living inside the story.  It creates a very calm mood.

Story Elements Influence

In my book Wings of Fire, the setting is a Sea Wing palace in the middle of the bay of thousand scales. It is a large bay with large and strange rock formations with different levels. Also my character is Tsunami and she feels very protected and safe because her mother is the queen of the Sea Wings. The conflict is that the rest of dragnets don't trust Queen Coral because they locked the rest of them but not Tsunami, she is very trusting in her. She is blinded by the fact that she found her mother that she is very trusting with her as to the point to let her lock up her friends.

5 Senses

My character is Tsunami. She has a regular teenage girl voice because she is still young. She smells like fish because she is always swimming in the ocean. Tsunami also has dark blue and navy blue scales with glowing light patterns all over her body. Tsunami also has transparent sky blue wings with webbed feet and sharp claws.

Protagonist/Antagonist

In my book Wing of Fire the protagonist are the dragonets and peril because they're the ones trying to stop the war. They're also the main characters in the story. The antagonist is Queen Scarlet and Burn because they want to lock up the dragonets in the Skywing palace prison to stop them from stopping the war. Also because the dragonets and the Queen Scarlet have different opinions on if its okay to kill dragons for entertainment. The dragonets think it is very wrong to kill dragons which is the mostly the main reason why they want to stop the war. While Queen Scarlet and Burn think the it is very amusing.

Story Elements

In my book Wings Of Fire, the setting is a sky arena in the high mountains. In the arena it has large dragon poisoners on the top of large pillars around the arena. The whole arena is carved into the mountain. My character is a dragon named Clay, he is very large almost as big as a three story building. He is a mud brown dragon with amber and gold glints between and beneath his scales. He is very kind and helpful dragon. He shows he really cares about his friends. Every time something tries hurts his friends he always tries protecting or by fighting for them. Everyone expects him to a be a really good fighting dragon but he does not like fighting.

Inference Post

In my book The Fault In Our Stars the character Isaac is very sad about his break up with Monica because in the book it said the Isaac keeps sobbing when they mention Monica's name, and Augustus said the him and Monica are a touchy subject.
